SRE
What is SRE?
We’re excited to offer SRE (Special Religious Education) classes at Lucas Heights and Menai High!
In these weekly classes, we explore the big questions of life, identity, purpose, and meaning through the lens of the Christian faith. Together, we open the Bible to discover what God says about Himself, humanity, and the world. Whether you’re curious, sceptical, searching, or already walking with Jesus, SRE is a space where everyone is welcome to come, think deeply, and grow.
Each lesson is based on the truth of the Bible, which we believe to be the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We look at the life and teachings of Jesus, the heart of the gospel, and how Christianity shapes our everyday lives. Through stories, discussion, and real-life applications, students learn how faith in Christ can make a tangible difference.
Why come to SRE?
Because it’s more than just a class – it’s a chance to:
- Ask life’s biggest questions: Why am I here? Is there a God? What happens after I die?
- Discover hope and peace: Jesus offers rest for our souls (Matthew 11:28-30) and peace that the world cannot give (John 14:27).
- Grow in identity and purpose: The Bible tells us we are created in God’s image (Genesis 1:27) and loved deeply by Him (Romans 5:8).
- Learn values that last: Love, kindness, forgiveness, patience, humility (Galatians 5:22-23). These qualities shape good character and build strong friendships and communities.
- Build resilience and well-being: Students who engage with faith often show stronger emotional health and purpose, because they know they are known and valued by God (Psalm 139:13-14; Jeremiah 29:11).
We believe that understanding who Jesus is, and what He’s done for us through His death and resurrection changes everything (John 3:16; Romans 6:23). That’s the heart of SRE. It’s a safe space to explore faith, ask questions, and encounter the hope of the gospel.
